H.W.Henze: Royal Winter Music:Sonatasnos.1 and 2 on Shakespearean Characters. Leif Christensen,Guitar. Sct. Peders Koncertkor. Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), 'grand old man' of the church-music scene in Norway, has over the years left his stamp on the music scene in St. Peder's Church, Randers. We met Knut Nystedt for the first time at a concert with The Noewegian Soloist Choir in the autumn of 1980. At that time he had been the conductor of this elite Norwegian choir for thirty years, but according to what both conductor and choir told us, they had never experienced such a reception before: on their arrival our choir sang Song of Praise by Knut Nystedt!
Our contact with the organist, conductor and composer Knut Nystedt has continued since and has, amongst other things, resulted in his participation in concerts celebrating both his seventieth and eightieth birthday.
Thus our decision to record a CD with music only by Knut Nystedt naturally fits in with our continued and unabated love for his music.
